First Day in DC

We took the Metro train from Vienna, VA to the Capitol South station. We walked a short distance and came upon the Capitol. We started somewhat behind and walked around to the front. Here Becca presents it to you.
We started walking along the Mall away from the Capitol.
We reached the Washington Monument eventually. I took a bunch of pictures but I guess they aren't much different than others you've seen. Here is Becca viewed from the back of the monument looking toward the Lincoln Memorial.

Here Becca poses at the World War II memorial.
As we walked along the paths to either side of the reflecting pool, we encountered a bunch of Canada Geese. They were very bold. It was very warm, and the shade from the Cherry trees was quite welcome.

I took a nice picture of an American robin.
We reached the Memorial. It was shady inside, but not very cool.
After we left the Memorial, we went over to the Potomac and saw this. I think it may be some giant triceratops come to destroy the world.
I took this picture of the Jefferson Memorial from the path along the Mall just to show off the telephoto lens.
We hiked what seemed forever and eventually arrived at the Natural History Museum. The museum was blessedly air conditioned. I took some pictures inside and this one came out pretty cool.
For Lorie, I took this picture of a prehistoric tapir.
Becca decides she wants a man to give her some proper jewelry.
I thought dirty thoughts about the green rocks.
We left the Natural History Museum and crossed to the Air and Space Museum. We went through this sculpture garden. Apparently the grass was a mistake.
Becca really liked this guy and we took several pictures of him. The web page says we missed some cool sculptures.
We arrived at the Air and Space Museum. There was a lot of cool stuff there. There is a moon rock that you can touch, so we touched it. That was my second time.

A spy satellite revealed.
Becca has the Wright Stuff.
She's got pride and Spirit, too!
This aerogel looks like it was photoshopped in.
We took the train back to to get the car and then back to the hotel. Our feet are sore!
